A Sports-Themed Room for Girls

Want to put together a great sports-themed room for your favorite girl? There are many fun and creative ways to incorporate sports in a girl’s room. Here a few ideas to get you started:

Pick Your Sport
Is she into soccer? Basketball? Volleyball? Gymnastics? Find out what she likes and that will give you an ideal starting point for a theme she’ll really love. If she has a favorite team, it will narrow your choices even further.

Choose Your Colors
When choosing a color scheme, you have many choices. You can opt for team colors, or you can find kids sports bedding in the appropriate sport and take your color cues from there. You can also paint a single wall green to portray the “field” for you room.

Pick Accessories
You can use sports memorabilia, equipment, trophies and posters to liven up your décor. Get creative and use items in unexpected ways to add interest. For example, a baseball or softball bat can be fitted with wooden pegs and mounted on the wall to hold a robe or backpack. Put a basketball hoop over the hamper so she can practice her jump shot.

Do The Unexpected
How about an Astroturf floor instead of carpet? Install cork and paint it like a basketball court, or use plastic tiles and put together a locker-room atmosphere. For a gymnastics theme, consider rubber flooring for a fun and safe floor covering.
