If you’ve decided to run a business from your home, you telecommute, or you just want a dedicated space to pay bills and run the household, a well-equipped home office is a must. Putting your office together properly will help you feel better in your space and ultimately be more productive.
At the bare minimum, you need a desk and a good chair. You might even want to splurge in the chair because it’s important that it be comfortable. Be sure the scale of the furniture is correct; if you’re tucking your office into the corner of the living room, you don’t want it to dominate the space.
Computer And Printer
If you don’t have room for a desktop computer or if you need to be able to take your computer with you on the go, invest in a good laptop computer that you can use both at home and while you’re out and about. Look for a multifunction printer that will allow you to print wirelessly; you won’t even keep it in the same room as the computer—a lifesaver if you’re short on space or will be sharing it with the family.
A desktop organizer is a must to keep essentials neatly on hand. The size should be in proportion to your desk. A file cabinet of some type is also important. If space is at a premium, get a small hanging folder holder to keep your important files.
